Business Auto Insurance

Whether you have a fleet or only one vehicle you use for business you may need a commercial auto policy

Different coverages for different risks.

A vehicle collision is never good news, but when it’s one of the cars or trucks owned by your business, the consequences can be more complicated. Business auto insurance takes all the elements of normal auto coverage and adds extra protection needed to protect you and your business.

Higher liability coverage limits are available.

For example, when obtaining business auto insurance you may need higher liability limits to reflect the fact that a business typically has more assets at risk.

Do you need Hired and Non-Owned Coverage?

Commercial auto policies do not automatically cover vehicles you do not own even when used for business.

If your employees are using their own personal vehicles for business-related reasons and they get into an accident, your business might be held liable. This is where "non-owned auto" coverage comes into play.

A "hired auto" endorsement protects you or your employee if a car accident happens while driving a hired, rented, or borrowed vehicle for work purposes.

Be aware of what is not covered by hired and non-owned auto insurance. Examples are:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Property damage to your buisiness' hired or non-owned vehicle
  • Medical bills if you or your emplyee are injured in an accident while driving a rented or personal vehicles
  • Bodily injury or damages from an accident while driving for personal reasons
